Description

Dax Ballast STS from Daxter Ind LLC is a thiosulphate-based liquid manufactured at our Sharjah facility for ballast water dechlorination — the neutralisation of residual chlorine before ballast water is discharged from vessels equipped with electrochlorination or hypochlorite-dosing ballast water management systems. This ballast water dechlorination chemical reacts rapidly with free and combined chlorine, converting it to non-toxic chloride and sulphate species that meet discharge limits set by the IMO Ballast Water Management Convention and port state requirements.

Key Benefits

Rapid reaction kinetics make ballast water dechlorination reliable at the discharge point, where contact time between neutraliser and treated ballast water is short. Reduces total residual oxidant (TRO) in ballast discharge to below the limits required by IMO regulation D-2 and the discharge criteria enforced by port authorities across the UAE, GCC and international ports. Liquid form allows precise metering pump dosing linked to TRO monitoring output, giving controlled neutralisation rather than the overdosing common with manual solid additions. Compatible with the neutralisation stage of major approved ballast water management systems using active chlorine as the treatment agent. Directions for Use

Dose Dax Ballast STS into the treated ballast water stream ahead of overboard discharge using a chemical metering pump linked to the vessel’s TRO analyser. Set the dose rate to bring residual chlorine below the applicable discharge limit. Verify TRO at the discharge sample point and adjust dose as required. Follow the vessel’s approved ballast water management plan and manufacturer’s neutralisation stage guidance.

Handling and Storage

Wear gloves, eye protection and protective clothing. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Do not mix with acids — reaction releases sulphur dioxide gas. Store this ballast water dechlorination chemical upright in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, away from acids and oxidising agents, and out of reach of children. MSDS available on request.
